Rehoboth Beach Wedding | Kait and Adam’s Love Story

Our excitement for Kait and Adam’s Rehoboth Beach Wedding began the day we met them! By the time Saturday came around, we were literally high-fiving with smiles beaming from our faces! Kait and Adam’s happiness and excitement for an incredibly special wedding celebration rubbed off on us and everyone surrounding them!

We arrived on Thursday and were immediately greeted with warm hugs and a room full of love. Kait and Adam were surrounded by their family for a welcome dinner… this was the beginning of a weekend long celebration that brought two families together as one. What a beautiful thing to witness and to be a part of… because let’s be honest, going way back to their beer-nic engagement session ;), we definitely consider ourselves one of the family! ;)

On Friday, Ryan and I sat down with Kait and Adam for a little interview. We asked them what they were most excited about for their wedding day and Kait had 3 very specific things that she was looking forward to most. As she shared them, my goosebumps got bigger as the anticipation for their wedding day grew closer! In Kait’s words, these are the 3 things she has been “geeking” out about the most! ;):

1. Wearing my mom’s dress is very special to me and also my Godmother wore it too. So I think that is really special.
2. Walking into the church and down the aisle with my dad… that is something every girl thinks about.
3. And the last, which I didn’t know until 3 years ago [when she met Adam], walking back out of the church with you [Adam] as your wife… husband and wife!

Ahhh! The goosbumps are back just thinking about it! Kait and Adam’s wedding day (and the whole weekend, really) was perfect! Everything about it! Watching Kait’s dad light up as he walked in the room to see Kait for the first time was one of my favorite moments from the day!… ohh and did I mention the time Kait and Adam went to Funland on the Boardwalk and rode the Carousel and played Skee Ball before their Reception?!? Yep, that was pretty AMAZING too! ;) Oooo! ;) And how about the K+A heart that was drawn in the sand during the Cocktail Hour by a sweet family who was just hanging out at the beach right outside the window of the Reception and the quiet moments Kait and Adam shared on the beach right before sunset!? Clearly we have a lot of favorite moments from their special weekend!

We can honestly say, this is definitely a weekend we will never forget. Kait and Adam and their entire family have made us feel like we are one of the family since the first day we met them. One of my favorite quotes is:

Kait and Adam and their families are the perfect example of living out this quote! Their joy and love radiates from their smiles and we are so beyond grateful to be within their glow! Thank you does not say enough! We are so grateful for all of you! Rick, Kath, Marianne, and all of our new friends in the “Fun House”… you all have touched our hearts in such a special way! Thank you for being so hospitable and… Fun! ;)

Kait and Adam… you two are AMAZING! Honestly there are no other words to describe just how special you are! Thank you for sharing your love with us and for radiating happiness that will never grow old! We are so beyond excited for you and this next chapter of your lives together!! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Pecina! We could not be happier to have been a part of the AMAZING #Pecinapartyof2!

One of our favorite things about weekend long celebrations is that we have the opportunity to get to know our brides and groom’s families so much better than we do on a typical wedding day. We have the chance to chat with them and hear their favorite stories of the bride and groom along with their emotions of excitement and love they share for the couple! This was especially true for Kait and Adam’s celebration and we are so incredibly honored to have been able to be a part of their whole weekend! We can’t wait to share more of their whole weekend celebration in a fusion video coming to the blog soon! (We want Kait and Adam to be able to see it first during their Reveal Party, once they get home from Costa Rica!) Don’t worry- we will not forget to post it! We can’t wait to share it with you all!

Santa Barbara California Estate Photography Shoot with Mike Larson

Last week while we were out in Santa Barbara for the Showit United conference, I went to a photography workshop with Mike Larson.  The weather has been particularly cold and gloomy lately back in Baltimore, so it was great to get outside and shoot a little bit somewhere warm and sunny.  Plus the workshop was at an AMAZING private estate just before sunset.  Suzy and Lukas VanDyke, another (SUPER FUN) photography couple we had the pleasure of meeting earlier this year in LA, were the most adorable couple and the perfect models.  Below are a few of my favorite photos from the workshop. This was the first workshop given by Mike Larson that either of us had attended.  Mike specializes in vineyard and private estate photography.  His approach to a wedding is slightly different than ours, so it was really good to get a different perspective and to hear how he interacts with his couples while photographing them. Thanks for sharing so openly with everyone, Mike!

Weekend Wedding Photography | Only 5 wedding openings left for 2013

Ryan and I have been chatting about our 2013 wedding photography season and getting SUPER excited because our couples are pretty much AMAZING! ;) They all exude an incredible amount of love and huge excitement about the most important thing… their marriage! We are so excited and so honored to be the ones photographing this incredible time in their lives!

Looking at our rapidly filling calendar for 2013, we have decided to only take 5 more weddings for this year! Only 5 remaining wedding openings are available for 2013! CRAZY! ;) We are feeling so blessed and truly grateful!

Over the past 4 years, we have recognized that our talents and our passions stem WAY beyond “just” documenting this special day in a couple’s lives. We recognize the beauty in all of our couple’s love stories and we see it as our responsibility to capture that joyful happiness and unconditional love as a documentation for generations to come… as well as a constant reminder to that couple of the AMAZING love that they share!

After documenting quite a few weddings ;) that have all been quite unique (local, international, ballroom, waterfront, small, huge) there has been one similarity that we have noticed that has allowed us to truly recognize the talents and passion we have to offer. When a wedding is not just a 6 hour event, but is truly a weekend long celebration that we are able to be a part of, we feel like we have the opportunity to really dive in and capture a love story beyond just the wedding day! By being present on more than just the wedding day, we are definitely more able to capture the truly authentic emotions and moments that are unique to our couples and tell their love story!

With just 5 remaining openings for 2013, we would love to fill those spots with weekend celebrations that are full of joyful happiness and unconditional love and are ready to be documented in a special way! We are looking for couples, to join the rest of our 2013 couples, who recognize the beauty in this AMAZINGly special moment in their lives and have chosen to plan their celebration in a way that maximizes their time with their family and friends while not minimizing the true reason they are all together to celebrate in the first place!

We have put together a special weekend wedding photography collection for the 5 remaining wedding openings for 2013! Happy New Year!!!  Wahoooo! We just did a little cheers with our mimosas and good friends Natalie and Hugh…to making 2013 the most AMAZING year yet! We are so excited to think about 2013, but first we are taking a good look back at 2012 with hugely grateful hearts!

It is so incredible to look back over 2012 and think about all of the AMAZING couples who have touched our lives in such a special way! Every single photo session that we have done has left a special mark on our hearts. We always take so much away from each session… unconditional love and joyful happiness are two of our favorite takeaways! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for trusting us as your wedding, engagement and anniversary photographers! This year we even took a sense of adventure away from many of our sessions!  It is crazy to think that we photographed in Paris, Barcelona, Mexico, Punta Cana, Southport, NC, Annapolis, the Eastern Shore, Baltimore, Altoona, PA, Montoursville, PA, Rye, NY, Winston-Salem, NC, and so so so many more locations! Wow! We are so so so grateful for every couple we have had the honor of photographing and for the every adventure they have taken us on!

This year, we wanted to do something EXTRA special for our couples to say THANK YOU for such an AMAZING year! We are hosting a Facebook Photo contest (that is live now!) and we are giving away (not just 1) but 2 photo sessions!!! We pulled 1 photo from every couple’s session we photographed this year and put them on Facebook. The photo that gets the most votes by Monday, January 14th will win a FREE photo session that can take place anywhere in the United States! ;) (Yes! We will travel to wherever our couple would like to go! Who knows… maybe if they talk us into it we would even go abroad?! ;)) The official rules are on the Facebook Contest site. Naval Academy Wedding Photography: Jen and Scotlin’s Love Story

There was something incredibly calm about their day. Jen was as relaxed as can be! As the craziness of “bridal time” (regular time fast-forwarded) surrounded her, she stayed calm knowing she would soon see Scotlin at the end of the beautiful Naval Academy Chapel aisle.

Scotlin stood at the end of the aisle looking calm and ready to go. The moment where he would finally see his bride walking down the aisle in her gorgeous dress was finally here. As soon as he could see her, his face lit up with a big smile! This was that moment he had anticipated for so long!

Jen and Scotlin’s wedding was not only a celebration of their love and their union… it was a celebration of their strength and courage. Scotlin had recently returned from a 6 month deployment where he and Jen had very little contact. As hard as those months certainly were, they knew they had so much to look forward to in the weeks ahead! Their love certainly shined through and now they are celebrating with a wedding, a surprise honeymoon to Italy (AMAZING!!), the completion of their new home they built… and even a new puppy! So much happiness!

Jen and Scotlin, we are so grateful to have been a part of your gorgeous day! Thank you for the opportunity to celebrate along side you! Congratulations on all of your excitement ahead! We wish you nothing but the very best!!!
